Cancellation and Refunds
WHAT CHANGED IN THIS VERSION
- First published version for the United Kingdom (v1.0). Our refund promise goes further than the law: the 14-day refund survives the download, although the statutory right to cancel ends for a document when it is supplied at your request.
EVERY CLAUSE HAS A PLAIN-ENGLISH NOTE — HOVER OR FOCUS TO READ IT →
1 Our promise, and your right to cancel
1.1Every purchase can be refunded within 14 days of the order — no questions, no forms, one email to help@clausebook.dk.
What this meansWe mean the “no questions” part. “It wasn’t what I needed” is a complete sentence.
1.2This applies even after you have downloaded the document, so it goes further than the law. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you may cancel within 14 days of the day the contract is made, without giving a reason. Because you ask us at the payment step to start straight away, you lose that right for a document when it has been supplied to you, and for the pass when it has been fully performed; and if you cancel within the 14 days, you pay for what has been supplied up to the time you tell us. Our promise in § 1.1 refunds you in full all the same.
What this meansBy law we could refuse a refund after a document has been supplied. We think that is a bad way to sell trust.
1.3The right to cancel, step by step: tell us of your decision before the 14 days are up, by any clear statement — an email or a letter — or with the model cancellation form in § 2.4, which you may use but do not have to. It is enough to send your message before the period ends. We then repay what is due without undue delay, and at the latest within 14 days of hearing from you, by the same means of payment you used and without any fee.
What this meansThe rules the Regulations set out in their model instructions, in plain words.
2 How cancelling and refunds work
2.1Refunds go back to the card or wallet you paid with, within 5 working days of your request. The law allows us 14 days, and you never pay a fee for a refund.
What this meansYour bank may then take its usual few days to show it.
2.2When an order is refunded, its link to the document stops working and its update emails stop.
What this meansFair’s fair: the refund undoes the purchase, both ways.
2.3How to tell us: reply to your confirmation email, write to help@clausebook.dk, or use the contact form with the topic “Refund or cancellation”. Your order number helps us find the purchase faster. We confirm that we have your message.
What this meansThe law only asks that your message is clear. The order number just saves time.
2.4The model cancellation form (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, Schedule 3, Part B), with our details inserted:
To Clausebook ApS, postal address to be confirmed before launch, Copenhagen, Denmark, help@clausebook.dk:
I/We [*] hereby give notice that I/We [*] cancel my/our [*] contract of sale of the following goods [*]/for the supply of the following service [*],
Ordered on [*]/received on [*],
Name of consumer(s),
Address of consumer(s),
Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper),
Date
[*] Delete as appropriate.

What this meansOur contract is not a sale of goods: keep “for the supply of the following service”, write your order number after it, and add the day you ordered. By email, no signature is needed.
2.5Ending the subscription is different from cancelling the purchase. The cancellation page linked at the foot of every page stops the subscription that follows the pass: enter the order number and the email on your receipt. Your pass runs to its end, nothing is charged after it, and we confirm by email straight away. To get your money back within 14 days, use § 2.3.
What this meansTwo kinds of “cancel”: one stops what comes next, the other undoes what you paid for.
3 The one limit
3.1The statutory right to cancel belongs to consumers. If you buy for a business, we still refund within 14 days of the order on the same terms, but that promise is voluntary and may be withdrawn from someone who repeatedly buys, downloads and asks for a refund. A consumer’s statutory rights are never affected.
What this meansThe clause that keeps the generous promise possible for everyone else.
